Plain-language definitions for sweepstakes terms used across this site and the official rules. Bookmark this page if you read sweepstakes rules often.
Core terms
Administrator: the company that runs the drawing and verifies the winner. For GiveawayGoose sweepstakes, that is us.
Sponsor: the company funding the prize. Can be the same as the administrator or a separate brand we partner with.
ARV (Approximate Retail Value): the published value of the prize, used for tax reporting and odds calculations.
AMOE (Alternate Method Of Entry): a no-purchase entry path required when any entry method involves a purchase. All GiveawayGoose entry methods are free, so AMOE is effectively the same as the primary entry.
Bonus entry: an optional second-or-later entry earned by completing an action. Skipping bonus entries never costs the free entry.
Random drawing: a winner selected by a documented random process, not by ranking or judging.
